My favorite happy hour drink is a glass of wine. It is our go to drink and we always enjoy trying new bottles. Some days though don’t call for a glass of wine, especially hot days. You want something more refreshing than a warm red blend. I also like to mix it up occasionally and when I do, I end up appreciating my next glass of wine, so much more than before. So we present my “skinny tequila Concoction!”
Tequila is my liquor of choice, it has never given me bad memories or a terrible hangover; and it comes with health benefits!! Actually if you give me one good health reason for a glass of alcohol, it will justify my indulgence enough to do it. But it case you didn’t know:
Tequila:
- aids in weight loss–> like the number one reason, thank you!
- fights dementia–> memory loss runs in my family!
- helps digestion–> anything to settle my stomach, I am okay with.
So tequila drinkers unite!
We have reason to drink our drink and benefit from it. Now the skinny tequila concoction I make can be strong, and not for the light-hearted.
This is for actual tequila lovers and there are isn’t any added sugar! Only natural fruit sugars.
My man’s cocktail preference is a rum and coke, but I can’t stand it. He would pour a whole cup of sugar in my tequila concoction if I made him drink my choice.
I love this type of skinny margarita because it is light and I can have a couple without feeling guilty about calories or feeling bloated.
Ingredients for skinny tequila concoction:
- 100% Agave Tequila (only the best of the best!!)
- Ice
- rock glass
- Limes
Optional: La Croix Seltzer Water
In your glass pour an ounce and half of tequila over ice. I always insist ice to the top, so as to keep it cooler, longer. Then top your glass off with water to the brim. If you are not used to the flavor of actual tequila then substitute La Croix instead. If you can handle the taste than keep it with just water. Cut up your limes and squeeze enough until you have the right amount of juice added to your drink (drop them in to make it look pretty).
The more lime the better, I like mine a little sour, it mixes well with the tequila. I don’t need the added sugar in this step, I want to feel guilt free. Also, if I take the same measurements and put it in a taller glass to add more water, I am getting hydrated at the same time! The more water you consume in this drink the less likely the “tequila effect” will hit you! This keeps you hydrated out in the hot sun, but giving you just enough to know you are enjoying a refreshing cocktail!
Please enjoy and I hope your summer days are memorable with family and friends!! And try my skinny tequila concoction for yourself!
