This is my first income report and even though the title may look disappointing to you, it is not to me. I can officially say I have been up and running for a month and it has been exciting!! But I made nothing the first month of blogging.
I have learned many new things: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Even though I may not be an expert in the blogging field, I hope I can inspire you to keep chugging along. I know this $0.00 will change one day.
I have goals, and one of my biggest goals is to monetize my blog over the long haul. A blogger once told me that starting and profiting from your blog is a marathon not a sprint.
I can be patient!
Everyone wants instant gratification, and so do I, but this is all new to me. I have to keep reminding myself that I am still learning everyday and growing.
Let us start at the beginning before I explain why I have not made a cent yet:
how I made nothing the first month of blogging:
I bought my domain in August of 2017, with this dream to blog. I wanted a side business with my name on it, and I wanted it to be all mine! Well then I think I spent another year reading others blogs, advice and updates before I moved forward with my own.
Just an FYI there is a ton of information on other bloggers and “how they do it.” After I let life slip by me for a year, I decided to crack down. I decided enough was enough and if I didn’t start now, then I never would have.
So I began planning… lots of planning! I dreamed of my site, my vision and my goals. Goals did get erased and redone every month. This is okay with me as long as I have progressed and can say I marked things off my to-do list.
I began with the plan that I wanted to have the ability to “monetize” from my blog on day one. My planning also include the business to do tasks and how to make it legal.
I won’t get into everything in this post, that is for another one. But in December I bought a blogging course and implementing everything I learned into my blog for two months.
Early March, I launched and it was nerve wracking!!
No one suddenly appeared and clicked on my site, sad…
The next few steps took time:
- signing up for affiliate programs
- launching an email list for subscribers
- setting up social media accounts
- Pin my posts to my new Pinterest Business account
- & more! The list could keep going!!
The cool thing about blogging there is always something to do and it doesn’t always involve the writing part. There is marketing, networking and reevaluating everything that you have done up to that point in time.
My successes in the first month of blogging:
- My blog is up and running, and it is legal!
- I have all my pages in place and nothing is slow.
- Everything is neat and pretty and easy to navigate.
- I have a couple of affiliates attached to my blog and people have clicked!
- ^^ I may not have made a sale, but readers are clicking and finding me!!^^
- My followers on all my social media sites have grown, and I am getting repinned.
I have invested money in my blog! I won’t lie to you, I am actually negative each month (currently). I think my biggest goal next month is break even, which is about $100.
I will explain in the future everything I use, trust me!! I am still trying all these sites out myself to see what I like and what I don’t!
I hope I am able to encourage new bloggers such as myself that we all have to start somewhere. There may not be a monetary value attached to my blog success right now, but I feel good about it!
I made nothing the first month blogging but, I can mark things off and establish new goals for the next couple months that I know I am just going to kill!!
Good luck on your own adventure! And please leave me any words of advice you may have for me! I am sure other bloggers may or may not have done things different when they were a newbie, I am curious to know!
